Join us for a unique four-day didactic surgical pathology meeting, complemented by the sights and sounds of the African bushveld.
Bushpath 2022 is the fifth biennial course of its kind and is once again being organised by Ampath Pathology Laboratories, in conjunction with the Department of Anatomical Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria. The venue, Kwa Maritane Lodge, is located in the majestic, malaria free Pilanesberg National Park, which is one of the world’s largest alkaline ring volcanic complexes, measures 55 000 hectares and was formed some 1.3 billion years ago.
The course is CPD accredited and endeavours to provide attendees with high calibre didactic presentations by invited renowned pathologists. The 2022 course will offer practical, “hands on”, educational presentations (supplemented by any relevant molecular pathology), which delegates will be able to apply in their routine practice of histopathology. Each lecture will also include time for questions and discussion. Topics in the fields of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, breast and pulmonary pathology will be covered. As in previous years, the course will also offer three subspeciality interactive live case discussions/consultation sessions (see programme), during which interesting cases will be demonstrated using live digital imaging projection / scanned microscopic slides. Delegates are welcome to bring their own challenging cases for expert review and group discussion during these sessions. The customary registrars slide seminar, to be presented by anatomical pathology trainees from universities / major academic centres across South Africa, will further serve to illustrate educational cases in the subspecialities under discussion. The slide seminar cases will be posted on the Bushpath website as virtual slides early in 2022.
Whilst Bushpath 2022 is primarily an educational event, it also aims to provide delegates with an opportunity to relax and enjoy the tranquil scenery and wildlife of the African bushveld. The boma braai and congress dinner offer a further opportunity to experience local culture and cuisine.
